The Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) is a highly specialised clinic for young people up to the age of 18 who are presenting with difficulties with their gender identity. The service provides specialist assessment, consultation and care for
children and young people, including psychological support and physical treatments, to help reduce the distressing feelings of a mismatch between their natal (assigned) sex and their gender identity. The service also provides support to the family or carers of clients.
